An Infinite Forest

An excellent novel, a dramatic and magical story narrated by a ten-year-old boy.

What does a ten-year-old boy feel growing up in a hostile environment? Martí, the son of a farming family in a village in Empordà before the tourism boom, learns to live under the authority of a hunter and a violent father, accompanied by his older brother and a mother who is a victim of her husband’s primitiveness. His only refuges are an imagined world and the  personified nature that shelters and protects him. Accompanied by the child’s voice, the reader discovers the circumstances that push the family to flee the village and hide in a small city where the boy meets a neighbor with whom he establishes a trusting relationship that will lead to an unexpected event.

An Infinite Forest is a splendid short novel of great emotional strength that unfolds in a tragic yet magical atmosphere.
